Throne vs Amazon Wish List for Creators (2026)

Quick answer: For creators, Throne is the safer choice. Since March 25, 2026, Amazon Wish List can share your delivery address with third-party sellers, and gift tracking may be visible to the buyer. Throne never shows fans your address, works with any store including Amazon, and supports cash gifts and gift cards.

Amazon Wish List was the default for years. Fans know it, Prime is fast, and the selection is huge. Then Amazon changed the rules, and a lot of creators got an email that made them rethink the whole setup.

Amazon emailed users with public lists to say it was removing the option to block third-party sellers from wishlist gifts, starting March 25, 2026. According to TechSpot, outside sellers and delivery companies now get the recipient's address to fulfill the order, and Amazon warned that shipping and tracking info may be visible to whoever bought the gift.

For a creator with a public list, that's the whole problem. The person buying your gift is often someone you've never met.

We covered the update when it happened in Amazon Wishlist Update: Privacy Changes & Throne.

Not fully. Amazon's own suggestion is to use a P.O. box or a non-residential address, or to switch your list to private or shared. Those fixes work, but they either cost money or defeat the point of a public list your fans can find.

P.O. boxes come with their own problem, too: many merchants don't ship to them, which can mean returned packages and failed deliveries.

Honestly, a lot. Fans already have Amazon accounts, checkout is familiar, and Prime shipping is fast. If your list is private and only shared with people you know, Amazon works fine.

The tradeoff only gets real when your list is public and the people gifting you are fans, not friends.

Because Throne was built for exactly the situation Amazon's change made risky: strangers gifting you from a public link.

• Your address stays private. Fans never see where you live, your delivery name, or any delivery details. Throne places the order and shares your details only with the merchant, only to ship the gift.

• Use your real name, safely. Since fans never see it, you can use your legal name for delivery, so packages don't get refused or stuck in customs.

• Any store. Keep your Amazon picks and add everything Amazon doesn't carry: indie brands, Etsy shops, merch, figures.

• Cash, gift cards, and crowdfunding. Fans can send cash or chip in together on something big, which Amazon can't do.

• Chargeback protection. If a fan disputes a gift, Throne handles it and you never repay it. Here's how that works.

Streamers, VTubers, and cosplayers have been accepting gifts without getting doxxed this way for years.

Yes, and you don't have to start from scratch. Throne lets you import your Amazon wishlist, so your saved items come with you. Then you can add items from any other store, turn on cash gifts, and swap the link in your bio.

The Throne wishlist setup checklist covers the rest.
