It's amazing how much cryptid stuff there is these days. I never would've dreamed of seeing so much Mothman stuff for sale as a kid.  I felt like I was the only one who knew about him.

Shigeru Mizuki was manga artist and folklorist often credited with bring yokai into the modern age. He's best known for his manga series Gegege no Kitaro (localized as just Kitaro by Drawn and Quartarly) and his many yokai encyclopedias. Kitaro is such a massive cultural icon in Japan that he's gotten a new anime adaptation every decade since it debuted. Plus, a more adult series based on the earlier Kitaro stories, Hakaba Kitaro.
